Senna(Mother Tincture)

Trituration or tincture of the dried leaves.

Common Name: Cassia Acutifolia

Causes & Symptoms for Senna

• It is said to have a good laxative effect, hence used to aid the constipation complaints.
• Senna is used to relieve the colic complaints felt in the children.
• Complaints of gas and wind in the children, muscular weakness.
• Exhaustion with weakness is characteristic of Senna.
• Heat of the hands and the palms is an indication for Senna.

Mind and Head

Inability to think and no desire to work.

Heaviness of the head  as if pressed down is relieved with Senna.

Nose

Senna has a characteristic symptom of frequent repeated sneezing with exhausting and panting breathing.

Excess sneezing that cause heat of the hands.

Mouth and Throat

Small vesicles that cause cuts of the lips.

Stomach and abdomen

Nausea with inclination to vomit, with sinking sensation felt in the stomach.

Emptiness and uneasiness felt in the stomach.

Stool and Anus

Diarrhoea with straining and prolapsed rectum and sore anus

Sleeplessness, with cries and tossing, especially in the case of infants.

Side effects of Senna

There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given.

Dosage and rules while taking Senna

Take 10 drops in half cup of water three times a day.
